MANILA - The Philippines needs to produce more dried mangoes to meet "insatiable" demand in China, Beijing's envoy to Manila said Friday, as he underscored warming diplomatic ties.
In online store Checkmark alone, some 30,000 Chinese nationals search for Philippine dried mangoes daily, Ambassador Zhao Jianhua said in a televised speech at a business forum in Davao City.

“The Chinese market, the demand is insatiable,” he said.
Over 85 percent of total dried mangoes produced in the country are exported to the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, and other Asia Pacific countries, according to the Department of Trade and Industry.
Zhao said demand is also strong for bananas and dragon fruits, even as Philippine fruit exports to China of around 20 to 30 tons are a mere "drop in the ocean."
“Whatever you produce, you can export to China and you can never meet the demands of the Chinese market,” he said.
